New major tenant named for 2222 Arlington Avenue office building

An architecture and engineering firm is making the move from the U.S. 280 corridor to the Redmont neighborhood.
Gresham Smith plans to expand and relocate its office from a suite at 3595 Grandview Parkway to the Redmont neighborhood. The company inked a 9,859-square-foot lease in D&A Companies’ redevelopment of 2222 Arlington, a Class A office building.

Gresham Smith joins Austin, Texas-based tech company Shipshape and Atlas Senior Living as anchor tenants.
Construction for 2222 Arlington Avenue is ongoing and slated to be complete for occupancy in early 2023.
“Our new office will provide both individual and collaborative areas that embrace the post-pandemic hybrid workplace,” Gresham Smith CEO Rodney Chester said. “In addition, we’re thrilled to call 2222 Arlington our new home in Birmingham. This location will give our employees access to the wide variety of amenities throughout the Five Points neighborhood and will serve to further enhance the live-work-play concept of the modern workplace.”
Located off of Highway 31, the property’s walkable amenities and urban environment were at the forefront of the Gresham team’s decision, including its location near popular restaurants like Bottega and Chez Lulu while remaining in close proximity to several desirable residential neighborhoods.
Encouraging a hybrid work model for its employees, Gresham Smith’s space will be broken into thirds consisting of community areas, traditional workspaces and collaborative stations such as in-person and video conference rooms.
D&A Cos. has partnered with The FiveStone Group, a Birmingham-based commercial real estate firm, on this redevelopment. Office spaces are available for lease via both Michael Reilly at The FiveStone Group and Phillip Currie at J.H. Berry.
