Kartik founded D&A Companies in 2018 to leverage the talent, skills, and cohesion of his longtime team of colleagues and friends.

Prior to founding D&A, Kartik was a Partner at Tamarkin Co., which he had joined in 2006 as a recent graduate of Columbia University’s Architecture and Real Estate Development programs.

Kartik was born in India, grew up in Michigan, spent his early career in California, and eventually settled in NYC. He received a BS in Architecture from the University of Michigan in 1999 before attending Columbia University, where he received a Master of Architecture in 2006 and a Master of Science in Real Estate Development in 2008.

Evan is a founding partner of D&A Companies after its formation in 2018. Along with Kartik and James, Evan is actively involved in deal origination, acquisitions and overall project development.

Evan joined the development team at Tamarkin Co. in 2011. In late 2016 he became Director of Development overseeing development, marketing and sales.

Evan is a native of Atlanta, GA with deep family ties to both Atlanta and Birmingham, AL. He is a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology and Columbia University, earning both a Master of Science in Real Estate Development and a Master of Architecture. He is a licensed architect and real estate salesperson.

James joins D&A Companies after 13 years with Hunter Roberts Construction Group in New York City. He has led the construction teams for 50 West Street, the Graduate Hotel at Cornell Tech, and the Viceroy Hotel.

Prior to his career, James graduated from Cornell University Civil Engineering School with a master’s in engineering management and a concentration in architecture.

James brings his construction experience from elite projects and a passion for great design to D&A Companies.

Van joined D&A Companies in 2018 as an analyst and was subsequently made an associate and project manager.

Van is a licensed architect with experience in design-build residential and commercial projects in Houston and holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Rice University and a Master in Design Studies with a concentration in Real Estate and the Built Environment from the Harvard Graduate School of Design. She was awarded the Plimpton-Poorvu Design Prize in 2017 and was executive editor of the Harvard Real Estate Review.
